A 35 m² radiant stretch ceiling in Marseille

Thirty-five square metres, so what?

A small area is sized exactly like a large one. What changes is the margin for error: over thirty-five square metres a badly assessed output shows immediately, because there is no other room to make up for it.

The calculation does not start from the area

It starts from the losses: orientation, glazing, shared walls, existing insulation. Two homes of thirty-five square metres can call for outputs that vary by a factor of two depending on where they sit in the building.

The Mediterranean climate

The winters are short, which makes the heating season brief. A system that comes up to temperature quickly and stops just as quickly suits that better than a high inertia system, whose interest lies in continuous running.

What the heating ceiling does not do

It does not cool. In the south the summer question is dealt with separately, either by insulation or by a system designed for it. Confusing the two leads to disappointments easily avoided by saying so at the study stage.

Summer comfort, all the same

The reflective insulation fitted above the fabric works both ways: it holds back the heat produced in winter and slows the heat coming in through the roof in summer. It is the only part of the installation that serves all year.

Control over a small area

A room of thirty-five square metres reaches its set point quickly and overshoots just as quickly if the sensor is badly placed. The thermostat therefore goes away from direct solar gain and from opening windows, failing which the control works on a temperature that is nobody's.

The regional installer is presented on the Jeftic page, and summer comfort on the R'BULL 13 mm page.
