Extending summer with a Ceilingo heated ceiling

The real subject is the shoulder season

It is not about heating in August. It is about the weeks in April and September when the boiler is off, when it is fifteen degrees in the morning and twenty-two in the afternoon, and when no heavy system follows that rhythm.

Why inertia becomes a flaw

A high mass system restarted in the morning gives its heat back late in the day, when the sun has already warmed the house. The lag produces overheating that the occupant corrects by opening the windows.

What responsiveness changes

An emitter with no mass produces its effect within a few tens of minutes and stops just as fast. It follows the day instead of preceding it, which is exactly what a shoulder season asks for.

The room you heat

In the shoulder season the need is local and short: the bathroom on waking, the living room in the evening. Room by room control avoids restarting the whole home for two hours of use.

The terrace and open rooms

Under a roof, a radiant emitter makes a terrace usable several weeks longer either side of summer. The limit is the wind, not the output, and it is stated before the design stage.

What that represents over the year

These in-between periods count for little in consumption and a great deal in perceived comfort. That is often where the difference is decided between a pleasant home and one endured two months a year.

The terrace case is developed on the dedicated page, and control on the scenarios page.
