Heated stretch ceiling project in Paris

A Paris ceiling is never flat

In an old building the ceiling has moved. Beams that work, timber floors, successive repairs: the survey reveals differences of several centimetres across one room. That is the starting point of the study, before any question of heating.

What the stretched fabric solves

It is fitted on a perimeter rail and forms a perfectly horizontal plane, independent of the substrate. The irregularities disappear with no levelling, no skim and none of the weeks of drying that would involve.

Mouldings and cornices

They can be kept, by setting the rail beneath the cornice rather than in its place. The decision is taken at survey stage, with the client, because it commits both the look of the room and the height available.

The ceiling above

In an old building the separating floor is often timber and poorly insulated. Closing the plenum with reflective insulation avoids sending the heat produced towards the flat above, which would be pointless and expensive.

Access to the site

Narrow stairs, no lift, restricted parking. A system delivered as rolls and light films goes up where a cast iron radiator or a screed would not, and that logistical detail sometimes decides the project.

The services crossing the plenum

In an old building the void above the ceiling often holds pipework, risers and cables laid over decades. The survey identifies them and provides for the access hatches needed, because a stretch ceiling permanently closes off what it covers.

The insulation is presented on the R'BULL Pro 13 page, and the fitting on the fitting technique page.
