How to reduce electromagnetic fields in your home

What a metallic layer does, physically

A continuous conductive material attenuates the electromagnetic fields crossing it. The principle is known and measurable: the more conductive and continuous the layer, the stronger the attenuation. That is physics, not a promise.

The condition that decides everything

Continuity. An interrupted layer lets through at its openings, and an opening attenuates less the larger it is relative to the wavelength. Overlaps and closure at the perimeter therefore count for more than the material itself.

Why a ceiling alone is not enough

A room receives waves through its six faces. Treating the ceiling reduces what arrives from above and leaves untouched what arrives through the windows, the walls and the floor. Any single measure therefore gives a partial result.

What can be measured

A field meter gives a level before and after fitting, in the same place and under the same conditions. That is the only honest way to speak of attenuation, and it is within reach of any equipped installer.

What should not be asserted

An effect on health. The subject is the object of ongoing scientific work and diverging assessments, and a materials manufacturer has no business settling a debate outside its field.

The honest position

Describe what the product does, how to check it and what it does not do. A client wishing to reduce their exposure for their own reasons is entitled to accurate technical information, and that is exactly what a supplier can provide.

The product is presented on its data sheet, and the fitting on the execution page.
