Insulating guest rooms

Comfort becomes a paid service

In a guest house, temperature is no longer a private matter. It is rated, commented on and published. A cool room produces an online review that stays visible for years, and that cost far exceeds the insulation that would have prevented it.

Rooms occupied intermittently

A room stands empty for days then is occupied for a night. A high inertia system means heating it permanently, whereas a radiant system allows the temperature to be brought up just before the guest arrives.

What insulation changes about that logic

With no closed plenum, a room brought back up to temperature immediately loses part of the energy into the loft. With a reflector, the same restart produces a faster result for less consumption, which counts across twelve rooms.

Quiet, the travellers' second criterion

After cleanliness and temperature comes noise. A plenum treated at the same time as the insulation reduces part of the airborne noise between floors, which answers a frequent complaint in old buildings.

Remote control

A connected thermostat allows a room to be prepared from reception, and put back on standby when the guest leaves. It is as much an operating tool as a comfort device, and it pays for itself over the season.

Working during the season

Accommodation rarely closes for long. A dry operation, with no drying time and no dust, is handled room by room outside peak periods, which makes the project feasible without stopping the business.

Control is presented on the scenarios page, and the insulation on its data sheet.
