The facing becomes the source

In this version, the surface that vibrates is the ceiling itself. There is no longer an object placed in the room: the plaster plane receives the energy and radiates the sound across its whole extent, which makes it the largest source available in a space.

Why a large surface changes the listening

A point source localises the sound at a point. A wide surface distributes it, and the listener no longer perceives a precise origin, which matches exactly the use sought in a living or reception space.

What the disappearance of the object brings

No volume to work into the decoration, no grille, no visible cable. In a room where every surface is taken, not adding an object is an advantage measured in linear metres of wall freed.

What it asks of the substrate

A flat ceiling, properly fixed and free of parasitic vibration. A badly screwed board or a flexible framework produces noises of its own that add to the signal, and that check precedes the installation.

Access

The equipment sits behind the facing. Providing an access point at design stage avoids a future visit having to open a finished ceiling, and it is the normal counterpart of any integration.

Where the bass goes

A plaster surface renders the mid and high range well. Bass calls for a greater movement of air, and the system remains paired with a subwoofer, itself placed out of sight. That division of roles is not a compromise, it is the way each element works in the register where it is best.

Sound treatment of a ceiling is developed on the dedicated page, and the product on its page.
