R'BULL Pro fire test: the insulation with unusual powers

Ten seconds, three things to watch

This short version is made to be watched between two jobs, on a phone, with no commentary. It is not trying to convince, it is showing. Three things are worth the attention, and they are best watched in this order.

While the flame is on

The first thing is whether the fire leaves the point where the flame is applied. A material that spreads catches beyond the heated area and carries on unaided. The second is the smoke: its density decides visibility along a corridor, and therefore whether people get out. Insulation that burns cleanly but fills the floor with black smoke protects nobody.

When the flame is taken away

The third point tells you the most, and it is the one videos cut away from most often. Once the source is removed, either the burning sustains itself or it stops. It is worth watching the floor as well: a flaming droplet that falls moves the fire down a storey.

What is written on the data sheet

R'BULL Pro 13 is classified B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1, which answers the three points above in the same order: limited contribution, very low smoke, no flaming droplets. The detailed version of the test is on the page devoted to reaction to fire, and the product on the R'BULL Pro 13 sheet.
