Reaction to fire of R'BULL Pro 13 reflective thin insulation

Why a reformulation changes the whole file

A reaction to fire classification applies to a precise composition, not to a trade name. Changing the thickness of an aluminium film, the density of the foam or the additive in the mass is enough to make the previous test void. That is why the 2023 version of R'BULL was put to the flame again.

What we were after in reformulating

The aim was not to improve a figure on a data sheet but to hold the same level of safety with a material that is more stable over time and easier to fit. An improvement that degraded fire behaviour would not be an improvement.

What the video lets you check

The sequence covers the version available since the second half of January 2023, the one delivered today. That is the point that matters: a test video is only worth something if it covers the product being sold to you, on the date it is being sold. Footage shot on an earlier version proves nothing any more, even if the name on the roll has not changed.

The classification obtained is B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1. The installation conditions it allows are set out on our fire regulations page, and the product on the R'BULL Pro 13 page.

How to tell which version you have received

The reference and the manufacturing date are on the roll label. If there is any doubt about older stock, it is better to ask before fitting than afterwards. We answer on a simple photograph of the label, and we keep the history of versions and of the tests that go with them.
