Refurbishing the ceilings of a hair salon

Premises open to the public all day

A hair salon receives the public, which imposes reaction to fire requirements on the facings. The point is dealt with at design stage, with the inspection body if the premises fall under one, and not at handover.

Staff are standing, clients seated

The two groups do not have the same need. An emitter at ceiling level covers the whole floor area and creates no favoured zone near a wall, which suits premises where people move about constantly.

The air you do not want stirred

A salon produces cut hair, styling aerosols and product vapours. A convection system sets them moving and deposits them elsewhere. Radiation moves nothing, which simplifies the end of day clean.

The walls are taken

Mirrors, basins, shelves, storage: practically no wall run is left for radiators. The ceiling is often the only free surface in the premises, and that in itself is a design argument.

The damp from the basins

Washing produces steam continuously. Warmer walls reduce condensation and the blackening of corners, which limits the repainting these premises regularly undergo.

Work outside opening hours

A shop rarely closes for a week. A system delivered ready to fit, with no wet phase and no drying, goes up in a few days and often in slots compatible with trading.

The requirements for premises open to the public are set out on the dedicated page, and the system on heated radiant stretch ceiling.
