Turn your decorative surfaces into heaters

The principle does not depend on the object

What heats is not the mirror, it is the panel bonded behind it. The mirror is only a substrate: flat, rigid, and able to conduct heat to its front face. Any object bringing those three conditions together can play the same part.

What surfaces that opens up

A picture on a rigid panel, a kitchen splashback, a timber panel, a lacquered glass sheet, a large format tile. In each case the decorative surface stays what it is, and gains a function nobody can see.

The three criteria that decide

Rigidity, because a flexible substrate moves and debonds. Conductivity, because a highly insulating panel would keep the heat to itself. And the state of the back face, which has to be flat and clean for the bond to be continuous.

The objects to rule out

A canvas stretched on a frame, a hollow honeycomb panel, a flexible plastic substrate, and any object whose front face has to stay cold to the touch for its purpose. Those cases are spotted before ordering, not after fitting.

What it changes in a room

Heating stops being an added object and becomes a property of what is already there. In a room where every wall is taken, that is often the only way to add warmth without removing anything. A picture, a splashback or a timber panel already occupy their place: asking them to heat as well costs not a single extra centimetre.
