What 100 % radiant means

A ceiling is genuinely radiant only if its whole surface emits, not part of it. That assumes the heat is spread rather than concentrated on heating strips separated by cold zones. A thermal camera shows it immediately, and it is what separates two installations that look alike at first glance.

The role of the air gap

Between the reflective insulation and the heating element, the air gap spreads and returns. Without it, heat goes upwards by conduction and the installation heats the original substrate. That fitting point decides the result more than the installed power does.

The order the method imposes

Setting out, profiles, insulation with its return at the edges, air gap held by spacers, heating elements, connections, checks, then closing up. Each stage makes the previous one unreachable. A check put off is a check that will not happen.

The temperatures aimed at

The ceiling surface works at a temperature close to that of skin. That is what removes the warm head sensation people held against the first generations, and what allows standard plasterboard to be used with no risk of cracking.

What you should be able to ask your installer for

The layout drawing, the nature and thickness of the air gap, the circuit identification and the warm-up record. Those four documents cost nothing to produce during the works, and they cannot be found afterwards.
