What invisibility changes in a room

An interior is composed with whatever remains available once the equipment is in place. Removing radiators, grilles and casings gives the owner back entire walls, and that is a difference measured in linear metres, not in impressions.

Wall length, a counted resource

In an ordinary living room, between doors, windows and circulation, rarely more than a few usable metres remain. An emitter occupies part of it, and it occupies precisely the part under the windows, the most useful.

What disappears at the same time

The black marks above the units, the dust moved about, the expansion noise and the obligation to leave clearance around each emitter. Those four points are not details for someone living in the room.

A trend beyond heating

Lighting, ventilation and sound follow the same evolution: functions are built into the surfaces instead of being mounted on them. The ceiling concentrates that evolution because it is the least used surface in a home.

What the client notices first

The absence. The question asked on entering an equipped room is always the same, and it is about what cannot be seen rather than what can.

The condition for that to stay true

Complete integration. A half integrated system, with a visible box or a badly placed control, loses most of the argument. Invisibility is decided by the finishing details as much as by the principle.

The other side of invisibility is developed on the next page, and the system on heated radiant stretch ceiling.
