Insulation made for stretch ceilings

Insulation that lives behind a fabric

The plenum of a stretch ceiling is not a loft. It is closed, shallow, unreachable after fitting and often above a heat source. Those four conditions rule out most common insulation products before performance is even discussed.

Behaviour over time

A material that settles or deforms leaves an irregular void behind the fabric. Since nobody will reach it again, the product chosen must keep its geometry for the whole life of the ceiling, with no heavy fixing.

Weight, a structural constraint

The framework of a stretch ceiling is sized for the fabric, not to carry a load. A light product is fixed with no reinforcement, which keeps the assembly logic and adds no load calculation to the job.

No loose fibres

Behind a perforated fabric or around a light fitting, a fibre that migrates ends up showing. A product with a continuous, closed surface releases nothing, which counts as much for cleanliness as for indoor air quality.

Reaction to fire

The insulation sits behind a PVC facing, in a closed volume. A B-s1,d0 classification under EN 13501-1 covers the contribution to fire, the smoke released and the absence of flaming droplets, and all three count in this configuration.

Compatibility with the air gap

The system only works if a still void remains between the insulation and the fabric. A product that is too thick removes it, one that is too soft sags into it. The right thickness is the one that lets that void exist.

The product is presented on its data sheet, and its fire behaviour on the reaction to fire page.
