Introducing the Sundoor heated wardrobe door

The problem this product solves

In a bedroom, floor area is scarce and the walls are taken. Fitting a radiator means choosing a stretch of wall, and therefore giving up a piece of furniture or a way through. The wardrobe door is already there, it gets in nobody's way, and it is often the largest free vertical surface in the room.

How it heats

The door carries a heating film and a technical insulation. The insulation sends the heat forward, into the room, rather than into the wardrobe where it would be lost. The front face stays at a moderate temperature, comparable to a sunlit wall.

What happens behind

The wardrobe receives what passes through the insulation, which is little, but enough to take the chill off clothes and to stop cold air standing in a closed volume. That is a side effect we wanted, particularly in north facing bedrooms.

The product in use is shown on the page about the heated wardrobe, and its full sheet is on the Sundoor, the heated wardrobe page.

What made to measure implies

The door is made to the dimensions of the opening, like any sliding wardrobe door. The heated part is sized accordingly, which means the output depends on the surface available. A narrow door in a small bedroom is enough; a large door in a poorly insulated room will not on its own make up for an undersized installation.

When it is not the right answer

It is not the right answer if the wardrobe backs onto an unheated room with no insulation between, nor if the opening is masked by a bed or a tall piece of furniture. Better said in advance, since both cases are visible on a drawing.
