Modul'M, modular house builder, chooses ceiling heating

A house built in a factory

Modular construction assembles complete volumes in a workshop, then transports and places them on site. That production method changes the constraints on heating: what counts is no longer only performance, but compatibility with a module that travels.

What transport rules out

A wet screed makes the module heavy and copes badly with road vibration. A water based network means joints between modules, to be made on site by an extra trade. Both go against industrial logic.

Why the ceiling suits

The equipment is light, flat and built into the module from the workshop stage. Connection on site is limited to labelled electrical links, which matches exactly the level of finish expected of a delivered module.

Insulation in the same operation

The plenum is closed in the factory, under controlled working conditions, with no weather and no improvisation. It is a rare case where the quality of the insulation fitting is guaranteed by the production method itself.

Repeatability

A manufacturer produces identical modules. The calculation and the setting out are done once and reproduced, which removes the variability from one job to the next and makes the result reliable across a whole series.

What remains to be done on site

The joints between modules and the perimeter finishes. That is the only place where the care taken in the workshop can be lost, and therefore the one deserving the closest check at handover.

The system is presented on the dedicated page, and made to measure on the sizing page.
