R'Acoustic Alu: thin acoustic and thermal insulation

Two functions within the same thickness

R'Acoustic Alu combines a textile complex with an aluminium face, over ten millimetres. The textile works on sound, the metal face works on infrared radiation. The two mechanisms are independent and do not interfere, which allows two problems to be treated with a single installation.

Why that matters in renovation

In renovation the two nuisances often turn up together: a noisy room is frequently a poorly insulated one, because it is the same thin element that lets sound and heat through. Treating both in one operation avoids opening up twice.

The condition on the aluminium side

As with all our reflective products, the aluminium face only produces its effect facing an air gap. Pressed against a substrate it conducts instead of returning. That constraint decides which way round it goes, and it is not negotiable.

What the product does not replace

Ten millimetres replace neither thermal insulation sized for a facade nor heavy acoustic treatment on a party wall. It is a complementary product that excels in configurations where nothing more can be done.

Where it goes

On floors, walls and ceilings. It is under a timber floor that it often gives the most visible result, because that kind of floor combines precisely the two defects: it lets footstep noise through and it does not hold heat.

The purely acoustic versions are presented on the R'Acoustic 20 page and the R'Acoustic 10 page, and the product on the R'Acoustic Alu page.
