What flame-retardant means

The term describes a treatment that delays ignition and limits spread. It does not mean non-combustible. The exact wording is read in the reaction to fire classification, which is measured data and not a commercial adjective.

The classification of the product

R'BULL Pro 13 is classified B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1. The B describes a very limited contribution to fire, the s1 a low smoke emission, the d0 the absence of flaming droplets. The three are read together and none is enough on its own.

Why smoke counts as much as flame

In a domestic fire, smoke comes before the fire and hinders escape before the flames arrive. The s1 index is therefore the one most directly linked to the safety of people, and it is the one looked at first in an occupied space.

The role of the aluminium

It does not serve fire resistance but low emissivity. It is what gives the product its ability to send radiation back, and that function is independent of fire behaviour, which comes from the internal composition.

A performance that does not degrade

Low emissivity comes from the nature of the surface, not from a structure that settles. Placed in a closed plenum, sheltered from dust and impact, it is stated for more than fifty years of service.
