Two jobs in one: decorate and insulate

Two budgets that do not follow the same logic

Redoing a ceiling is decoration, insulating it is energy. They are two different decisions, taken at different moments, and often separated by several years. Bringing them together halves the total cost.

Why the marginal cost is low

Most of the expense of a ceiling job lies in access: floor protection, scaffolding or platform, stripping out and making good. Those items are paid for once the ceiling is open, whatever follows.

What is decided at quotation stage

The insulation slips into a plenum that exists in any case. It adds no further lost height, no framework and no notable delay, which makes the question purely financial and not technical.

The order to respect

The insulation goes in before the facing, never after. A client who decides at the last moment therefore faces a finished ceiling and a quotation for stripping it out, which is precisely the situation to avoid.

The argument to give the client

Decoration goes out of fashion, insulation does not. The second item keeps producing a measurable effect for the whole life of the building, while the first may well be redone in fifteen years.

The case where the question does not arise

If the ceiling separates two heated rooms, the energy gain is small and the honest argument is to say so. The insulation then keeps an interest for acoustic comfort and for returning radiation, but not for saving. An installer who says so before signing gains a lasting client, where an unverifiable figure produces a complaint with the first winter bill.

The insulation is presented on the R'BULL Pro 13 page, and the full range on the dedicated page.
