A flat built in three and a half days

The dwelling shown at the Toulouse new homes exhibition, from 15 to 17 February 2019, was put up in three and a half days by more than fifty partners. That deadline acted as a filter: only products that go in quickly and need no going back over could be part of it.

What the context imposed

In a fully connected demonstration flat, every piece of equipment had to be controllable and had to stay invisible. A heated wardrobe door answers both: it is controlled remotely like everything else, and it looks no different from an ordinary door.

Why a bedroom rather than a living room

The bedroom is the room where a radiator is least accepted, because the furniture is dense and the floor area is counted. It is also the room where low temperature heating is most comfortable, since you are still there and often lightly dressed.

What that kind of event lets you verify

An exhibition flat receives several thousand visitors in three days, and every one of them opens the doors. That is heavier use than six months in a home, over a very short time. Nothing replaces that sort of trial for finding what goes out of adjustment, gets scratched or sticks.

The integration partner

The whole connected dwelling was built by Domo Center. They were the ones who brought the controls of the different systems together, the door included, into a single interface. It is that integration work, more than any single product, that makes a home genuinely controllable.
